Introduction
As I started to research on topics that had to do with Information Technology. I found many social issues that we're a great concerned to many people; Companies, Government, Professors, and normal people like you. Most of the issues that concern people have to do with Education, Plagiarism/Copyright, Safety, Privacy. But hardly anyone was concerned with the effects Information Technology has on ourselves. Don't we see the changes in people? Culture is changing, our social ethics are changing. Even our human behaviour; we're taking drastic decisions based on our own good instead of the good of the people we are surrounded by. We have turned into savage money-desiring humans. We have broken our own ethical code. Shouldn't we be concerned? This issue arose when technology started to evolve.
What does Ethics mean?
According to definition, the word ethics refers to a set or system of moral ideals. Just as it takes the thoughts and ideas of many people to make up an ideology, ethics are a product of society. When speaking of ethics we often think of values and morality. They seem the same but they aren't. Although they do come together in the end.
As modern technology starts to evolve, our way of thinking evolved as well. Our ideologies we stuck to changed; as we got more attracted to new technologies. As we started to come closer to technology our ethics started to change. Our values, morality, and ethics changed. And while our ethics changed, certain consequences aroused.
What does "Human Behaviour" mean?
According to Wikipedia, human behavior refers to the range of behaviors exhibited by humans and which are influenced by culture, attitudes, emotions, values, ethics, authority, rapport, hypnosis, persuasion, coercion and/or genetics. So what? Well, if our ethics influences our human behaviour and we are changing our ethics. Then you can imagine we have a problem. It's a cycle of life; Culture → Ethics → Human Behaviour.
Scientific progress makes moral progress a necessity; for if man's power is increased, the checks that restrain him from abusing it must be strengthened.
